WEDDING TIPS bella tips for the most memorable wedding!

BRIDAL SHOWER TRENDS - FROM FAVORS TO DECOR

Anyone who's ever put together a bridal shower knows it can be difficult to come up with a theme that's not only unique but elegant and enjoyable as well. The shower should not only be tasteful and fun, but reflect some aspect of the bride's personality. We've rounded up a few favorites from bridal shower favors, to theme ideas and decor, to help you get started.

Tea Party Shower Does the bride love all things English? Is she into Victoriana? Then a romantic tea party would be perfect. Have the shower in late afternoon (High Tea is usually served at 4:00 in London!), send out invitations in the shape of tea pots, and serve all of the traditional tea foods; scones, small tarts and elegant mini sandwiches. Petit Fours are delicious and romantic; and the perfect touch when stacked on tiered silver trays or floral-painted porcelain plates. Chocolate teacup favors for your guests are sure to be a delightful treat.

Purse Shower If you'd like to do something en vogue, a shower revolving around handbags can be fun. Invitations and placemats shaped like stylish handbags will establish the theme. Continue it with whimsy purse cookies frosted in trendy hues. Games that involve purses are plentiful. Fill a tray with items commonly found in a purse and let everyone look at it as it's carried around the room. Then put it away and give a prize to whoever can write down from memory the most items. When the invitations are sent out, ask each guest to bring one extra gift for the bride's purse (a luxury lipstick, lace handkerchief, compact, decorated comb, small scented lotion, etc.). To make sure the guests remember this special day, gift them each with a purse wine stopper with a printed tag commemorating the day.

Tiffany Shower There's nothing as romantic as something from Tiffany, and one of the most memorable movies in the world is Breakfast at Tiffany's. Of course, this should be champagne brunch. All of the decor should be done in Tiffany blue, white and touches of silver. For the cake, ask your cake make to create individual Tiffany box cakes in robin's egg blue fondant icing with white satin ribbon. Decorate your guest tables with hatboxes like Holly Golightly would carry (and have the gifts wrapped in them too!). Gift each of the ladies with a diamond ring keychains. Very elegant, Dahling!

That's Entertainment These days many couples already have a lot of the home furnishings they need. If you know they don't need any more toasters or glassware, think about entertaining the happy couple. Create over-sized movie tickets for invitations and put together a short video presentation about the couple for the shower. Ask each guest to bring something to entertain the bride and groom after they've settled down together. Some ideas include movie or theater tickets, DVDs, CDs, board games, tickets to sporting events, a bottle of wine, memberships to a movie rental store, even lessons they would enjoy taking together. Silver Star Wine Stoppers can reflect decorations of silver and gold stars and glitter for this Hollywood party. Find some old movie posters of the bride's favorite films and old publicity stills of famous actors and actresses to put up around the room. Then give the guest of honor the star treatment herself!

Lingerie Shower Not a "naughty nightie" event, but an opportunity to shower the bride with luxurious, elegant nightwear and undergarments. Silk gowns, satin teddies and Egyptian cotton pajamas are all great gifts. So are cuddly robes and trendy slippers. Our bodice and bustier sachets are sure to be a hit and gently scent your guests' own lingerie when tucked into a drawer at home. If you want to carry the theme throughout the event, drape the tables in sheer, chiffon fabrics and send out hand-made invitations trimmed in lace and ribbons.

My Favorite Things No, it isn't a shower revolving around Julie Andrews! It's a shower focusing on the bride's favorite activities. Gardening, reading, traveling; find out a few of the bride?s favorite things- you probably already know some of them- then alert the guests. Incorporate one of the bride's favorite things into the favors. If the beach is her favorite spot, seashell trinket boxes will delight all of your guests. Does she devour books as soon as new titles come out? Engraved silver heart bookmarks are thoughtful favors.
For avid gardeners, potted plants and gardening tools are ideal gifts. Satisfy the bride's reading habit with some richly bound hardback books by her favorite authors. If she loves to travel or the couple will be taking a long honeymoon, travel accessories are a great way to go. Think about make-up kits, an overnight bag, oversized beach towels (unless they're going to Alaska!), and guide books if they'll be traveling in foreign countries.

Around the Clock With invitations that look like clocks or watches, assign each guest a different time of day or night, asking them to bring a gift that the bride might use at that time of day. For instance, 8:00 am could be a teapot or coffee maker; 2:00 am brings to mind soft cotton sheets, and 3:00 pm could be anything from a fashionable silk blouse to a date book for keeping track of appointments. 10:00 pm? Some pampering bath and body products would be great. Make it more fun by having your guests the time for each gift the bride opens. You can really have fun with favors at a Clock party since you don't have one theme to stay with.
Whatever theme you end up choosing for your bridal shower, remember to keep it simple, elegant and fun. Carrying the theme through from favors to decor will give the afternoon a festive aire that will add to the special charm of the day.
